Editorial Policy

Trends in Libraries, Information Science and Technology (TLIST) is the official journal of Enugu State Chapter of Nigeria Library Association. As a main line professional journal, it is designed as a major outlet for dissemination scholarly research of librarians, information scientists, information managers, archivists and other professionals in the information industry within Nigeria and internationally. It is a bi-annual journal and accepts well researched empirical and position papers from all areas in Library and Information Science particularly current trends in the profession.

Focus and Scope

TLIST publishes research papers in all fields of Library and Information Science and related research areas. The journal has interest in reports of original research which may include descriptive narratives of successful and failed ventures, thoughtful discussions, empirical research findings in the following but not limited to these areas of librarianship:

Peer Review Process

As a referred journal, TLIST adopts double-blind peer review mechanism. The reviewers do not have any information about the authors and authors do not know the reviewers. So papers are sent to the reviewers as anonymous authors by removing any information including authors' affiliations. All papers are first screened by the editor and those found worthy are sent out for peer review process, while papers outside the scope of the journal or do not meet the author guidelines are rejected at the screening stage and authors notified immediately. On the recommendation of the reviewers, manuscripts are accepted, rejected, or sent back to the authors for revision and resubmission. In cases where the feedback is varied or less substantial, the editor-in-chief may either closely review the submission and reconcile the feedback or seek a third reviewer.

In the process of peer review, the main considerations of the reviewers include:

• Has the manuscript made a new contribution to the body of knowledge in the area?
• Is the method adopted for the study appropriate?
• Does the evidence presented support the hypothesis?
• How clear has the author communicated to the targeted readers of the journal?
• Does the literature review place the research or opinions in perspective?

The journal review process lasts for about six to eight weeks and the editor communicates with the author immediately a decision has been taken. Authors are not expected to submit the same manuscript to another journal while the review is in progress.

Submission of Papers

• Researched articles to be submitted should not be more than 8000 words including references and formatted using 12 font size and Times New Roman font type.
• All citations and references should follow the American Psychological Association (APA) style.
• Contributors should indicate their full names and institutional affiliations with email address and telephone number on the front page of their papers.
• Each article must come with an abstract of not more than 300 words with a maximum of eight keywords.
• Tables, figures, and other diagrams must have a title and be clearly explained in the text.
• All submitted articles are to undergo a blinded peer review process before determination of the suitability of the articles for the journal.
